ORGL-501: Methods of Organizational Research
(Josh Misner)
Course Description:
This course was a deeper dive into the research prospectus that surrounded the ideas behind developing a full formal research paper. I was able to construct a twelve-page research proposal that encompassed “the roots and consequences of communication and conflict in the workplace.” I used this as my theme and overall idea that surrounded my topic for this class and as my holistic idea for diving into research topics. Within this paper, I was able to discuss a full literature review, a theoretical basis, my research rationale, my methodology for conducting research, and all ethical considerations involved. This class took me from the basics of research and article review and allowed me to develop my own research ideas and methods to incorporate in my overall research theme. I learned about the structure needed to formulate a full research paper and how best to frame and communicate different ideas. Ultimately through periodic revisions, narrowing and focusing ideas, and developing ideas into a complete draft, I was able to complete a full research prospectus to fully identify all opportunities to put together this paper.
Course Artifact:
I’ve included my Research Prospectus that details the research proposal I put together to outline the different research methods and the literature review that I designed for this class as the final revised paper.

"The best leaders are clear. They continually light the way, and in the process, let each person know that what they do makes a difference. The best test as a leader is: Do those served grow as persons; do they become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become leaders?"
Robert K. Greenleaf
